Hi all<\/p>\n
It is with conflicted emotions\u00a0that I\u00a0am\u00a0writing\u00a0this letter. After working at Hoon Hay Medical Centre for\u00a0over 28 years I\u00a0have decided to\u00a0retire\u00a0at the end of January 2026.<\/p>\n
I have\u00a0thoroughly enjoyed\u00a0my\u00a0time working here,\u00a0in the\u00a0neighbourhood where I\u00a0grew up.\u00a0I\u00a0started\u00a0Hoon Hay School as a\u00a05-year-old\u00a0and\u00a0love seeing some of my classmates and families\u00a0as\u00a0patients.<\/p>\n
My father built this\u00a0medical centre in the late\u00a01970s\u00a0and it has been\u00a0an honour\u00a0following\u00a0the family tradition\u00a0in the area.\u00a0I\u00a0feel I\u00a0have followed him too\u00a0closely\u00a0though, even\u00a0his bad\u00a0habit\u00a0of running late!<\/p>\n
My time\u00a0working here\u00a0has made me\u00a0feel privileged to have been\u00a0involved\u00a0in\u00a0so many\u00a0lovely\u00a0people\u2019s lives. It\u00a0has been\u00a0wonderful to see the babies and\u00a0young\u00a0children grow into\u00a0amazing adults,\u00a0going into careers,\u00a0finding partners,\u00a0and having children of their own.<\/p>\n
There are\u00a0joyous\u00a0times as well as\u00a0the tough times\u00a0in\u00a0health,\u00a0and it\u00a0has been an honour to\u00a0care for\u00a0people as they\u00a0navigate\u00a0through\u00a0these\u00a0stages\u00a0of\u00a0life.\u00a0I just hope\u00a0that\u00a0I have been able to help in some way.<\/p>\n
I\u00a0went into General\u00a0Practice to\u00a0get to know and help people, follow their\u00a0health\u00a0journeys,\u00a0and\u00a0build a relationship with them. I feel I\u00a0have done\u00a0this over\u00a0the years and\u00a0this\u00a0will be the\u00a0part of the job I will miss the most.<\/p>\n
I am planning to\u00a0travel\u00a0in my retirement, but will also be\u00a0around\u00a0in the community, often hanging out\u00a0at coffee shops.\u00a0If you see me, please feel free to\u00a0come and\u00a0say hello\u00a0for a wee\u00a0catchup.<\/p>\n
